SA Taxi improves fleet monitoring with CloudSmiths and real-time data

CloudSmiths partnered with SA Taxi to address a challenge with delayed data access from vehicle tracking devices. The customer's batch processing system was causing significant delays in monitoring driver infractions and responding to them in a timely manner.

The solution implemented by CloudSmiths replaced the batch system with a real-time stream processing solution using Google Cloud Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery. This was complemented by a dashboard built with Apache Solr and Vue.js, hosted on Google App Engine and Compute Engine.
