Anglo American scales mine safety across 40 mines with CloudSmiths

CloudSmiths partnered with Anglo American, a global mining leader, to address its challenge of a slow and error-prone manual document management system for risk and safety paperwork. The customer needed to streamline its processes to improve mine safety.

The solution implemented by CloudSmiths used Google Cloud Vision API to automate data extraction from scanned documents, including handwritten checklists. Built on Google App Engine and Google Kubernetes Engine, the system provided real-time processing and scalability. This resulted in significantly enhanced safety and reduced hazard response times, leading to a successful initial rollout in South Africa and plans for a global expansion to 40 mines.
