A CloudSigma Case Study
Picturepark, a digital asset management and content management company serving major brands such as Siemens, E.ON, Milus, and Burberry, needed a cloud platform that could match its in-house infrastructure without forcing application changes. The company’s challenge was to support growing data volumes, high-performance SQL clustering, and demanding storage and throughput requirements while avoiding the cost and complexity of buying and maintaining more hardware. After an unsuccessful attempt to run its DAM environment on Azure, Picturepark turned to CloudSigma for a better fit.
CloudSigma provided Picturepark with a highly configurable cloud environment that could replicate its existing setup 1:1, including web servers, storage servers, clustered SQL servers, and Linux high-availability proxy clusters. Picturepark migrated hundreds of terabytes by connecting its own storage devices directly to CloudSigma’s data center, then scaled resources on demand for tasks like weekend indexing. The result was faster SQL cluster availability, better storage performance, noticeable latency improvements for customers, and a strong price-performance ratio; Picturepark also doubled its RAM and CPU usage compared with its previous in-house setup.
