Case Study: European Space Agency achieves scalable Earth Observation performance with CloudSigma

A CloudSigma Case Study

Preview of the European Space Agency Case Study

Earth Observation Data & Processing in the Cloud Earthquake & Volcanic Hazard Analysis by the European Space Agency

The European Space Agency’s ESA RSS (Research and Service Support) team needed a cloud platform that could handle variable Earth Observation workloads, integrate with their web portal and API-driven workflow, and support researchers, service providers, and public institutions with reliable access to data and processing tools. After evaluating several providers, ESA RSS chose CloudSigma for its flexibility, performance, customer support, and management capabilities.

With CloudSigma, ESA RSS deployed virtual environments on compute and clustered scale-out storage to host the Cloud Toolbox service, allowing users to develop and run algorithms close to the data with customizable CPU, RAM, and disk resources. CloudSigma helped ESA RSS deliver high availability, better performance, and cost-effective, on-demand scaling for a growing data archive, improving service quality and enabling the team to expand its cloud deployment over time.
