The Met Office, the UK's national weather service, needed a robust and flexible backend infrastructure to handle large, fluctuating volumes of data, especially during severe weather events. Their challenge was to move away from costly traditional hosting to a scalable cloud solution. They partnered with Cloudreach to implement this infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Cloudreach designed a highly available and elastic solution on AWS, utilizing Auto Scaling groups, pre-built machine images, and deployment automation to ensure rapid scaling and resilience. The result is an infrastructure that dynamically responds to demand, maintains service during failures, and enhances security. Cloudreach delivered a system that allows the Met Office to deploy faster, scale efficiently, and only pay for the resources they use.
