Aerospace & Defense Supplier Utilizes CloudRail for Secure OT-to-AWS Connectivity

Aerospace & Defense Supplier, a multinational aircraft, aerospace, and defense corporation with more than 50,000 employees and 200+ facilities worldwide, needed a secure way to collect data from hundreds of CNC machines for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. The company faced the complexity of connecting heterogeneous industrial assets across global sites while meeting very strict IT security and compliance requirements, so it evaluated CloudRail for OT-to-AWS connectivity and IIoT deployment.

CloudRail provided a retrofitting solution using IO-Link sensors, AWS IoT integration, and CloudRail.DMC for remote device management. The first CNC machine was connected to AWS IoT SiteWise in about two hours, and later the average connection time was reduced from several weeks to less than an hour, enabling a scalable global rollout without on-site experts. CloudRail also met the customer’s security needs with TPM, end-to-end encryption, firewalls, network separation, user rights management, and remote updates, helping improve ROI and support large-scale condition monitoring.
