How Hexagon built an Infrastructure Data Lake with CloudQuery

Hexagon, a global leader in digital reality solutions, faced the challenge of centralizing data from all its numerous cloud accounts into a single source of truth. Their Cloud Center of Excellence team wanted a serverless infrastructure data lake that could be queried with SQL and visualized with their existing tools while also maintaining a history of their cloud configuration. To meet this challenge, they turned to the vendor CloudQuery and its open-source framework.

The solution implemented by CloudQuery was a fully serverless data pipeline. CloudQuery collected data from all of Hexagon's cloud accounts and stored it in an S3 data lake in Parquet format. This was integrated with AWS Glue and Athena for querying and AWS QuickSight for visualization. The result was a complete success, providing Hexagon with a unified view of its infrastructure. The serverless solution built with CloudQuery required virtually zero maintenance and gave the team confidence they had made the right decision.
