The Town of Huntsville Invited the Building Community to Their E-Permitting Decision-Making and Implementation Process

The Town of Huntsville, a municipality in the District of Muskoka with roughly 20,000 year‑round residents (and many seasonal residents), needed to move from paper and legacy permitting toward a digital e‑permitting system while ensuring the local building community’s needs were met. After community consultations and an RFP process that involved contractors, designers and municipal staff, The Town of Huntsville selected Cloudpermit, a cloud‑based e‑permitting solution, to replace its paper workflows.

Cloudpermit delivered an end‑to‑end cloud platform with nearly identical front‑ and back‑end interfaces for staff and external users; Huntsville launched the system internally in November 2020 with public rollout planned for 2021. The solution centralized permit files, online checklists, inspection scheduling and automated reminders, giving 24/7 access, reducing follow‑ups and preventing use of outdated drawings—benefits reported by contractors, designers and municipal staff and credited by The Town of Huntsville to improved efficiency, communication and file management.
