Onsite inspections made simpler with mobile e-permitting in West Grey

The Municipality of West Grey faced difficulties conducting smooth onsite building inspections because essential documents were often missing from physical files or not immediately shared with all stakeholders. To address this, West Grey adopted Cloudpermit’s cloud-based mobile e-permitting system to give inspectors tablet access to permit files and standardized report submissions.

Cloudpermit’s solution centralized all documents on project files, allowed inspectors (a team of two) to perform mobile inspections with instant remote access, and appended inspection reports in real time so homeowners, contractors and tradespeople are immediately informed. Implemented in January, the Cloudpermit rollout also enabled an easy transition to remote work during the pandemic, reduced communication oversights, improved inspection tracking, and delivered measurable time savings and greater operational efficiency.
