The Township of Wainfleet, a largely rural Niagara Region community of just over 6,000 residents, is served by a two‑member building department that faced long travel times, frequent out‑of‑town contractors, and the sudden need to work remotely during the pandemic. To allow applicants to submit and track permits online and to stop relying on time‑consuming scanning and emailing, the Township chose Cloudpermit’s cloud‑based e‑permitting platform.
Cloudpermit implemented its end‑to‑end e‑permitting system remotely and provided training, centralizing permit documents for real‑time access. As a result, staff reclaimed time previously spent scanning and emailing, residents and contractors can apply outside business hours and avoid up to an hour’s round trip to Town Hall, and the two‑person team can manage inspections and the permit lifecycle far more efficiently — improving service and operational resilience for the Township of Wainfleet.
