Locaweb boosts spam catch rate by 12% with Cloudmark

Locaweb, a major Brazilian and Latin American internet service provider, faced challenges in improving anti-spam effectiveness and email deliverability for its over 250,000 customers. Their previous appliance-based and homegrown solutions were unable to scale, leading to excessive support calls and constant server upgrades. To address this, Locaweb partnered with vendor Cloudmark to implement a new email security solution.

The Cloudmark solution, Cloudmark Authority, was deployed as a plug-in to Locaweb's Postfix-based email gateway. This implementation led to a dramatic reduction in help desk calls and increased the spam catch rate by nearly 20%, from approximately 75% to over 92%. Most notably, Cloudmark's efficiency allowed Locaweb to decommission nine dedicated email filtering appliances, saving significant hardware costs and administrative resources.
