A CloudLock Case Study
Cloudera, a Palo Alto–based provider of a cloud‑optimized machine learning and analytics platform, faced growing security challenges as its 1,600 users increasingly relied on cloud applications. Traditional role‑based access controls became time‑intensive and ineffective at scale, leaving the company with poor visibility into user activity and the risk of exposing highly sensitive, regulated data outside traditional network borders.
Cloudera deployed Cisco Cloudlock as a cloud access security broker to centralize monitoring across Salesforce, Google, Box (and other cloud services), integrate with its internal security stacks, and support DLP through continuous, out‑of‑band monitoring. The solution delivered immediate visibility and automated alerts that sped remediation, helped detect attacks (for example, cross‑region brute‑force logins), revoke unauthorized apps, preserve dataset integrity, and provide KPIs that let leadership focus investments on reducing cloud risk.
