Austin Community College Selects CloudLock Collaboration Security to Protect PII Data in Google Apps

Austin Community College (ACC) is the open door to higher education for Central Texas, offering 235 degrees and certificates and serving as a primary transfer source to major state universities. After migrating 6,500 staff and faculty to G Suite, ACC’s IT team needed to apply the same on‑premise security controls in the cloud to keep data secure and maintain ongoing regulatory compliance, including finding PII such as Social Security numbers.

ACC deployed Cisco Cloudlock’s Compliance Scan to detect sensitive information and ensure Google Drive data is shared appropriately for compliance with regulations like FERPA. Automated notifications to data owners on policy violations let ACC engage end users in the security process, raise overall security levels, and delegate routine security tasks away from IT.
