KartRocket is a SaaS e-commerce platform that helps SMBs create and run online stores, powering over 2,000 shops and hosting more than 2 million images. They originally stored originals and derived images on web servers (then moved to S3), but generating multiple resized versions required downloading originals, creating files locally, reuploading and deleting—an approach that failed at scale.

KartRocket adopted Cloudinary to handle on-the-fly image transformations and delivery via Akamai’s CDN, enabling dynamic quality control (q_x) and eliminating costly local processing. The result: dramatically faster page loads and crisper images, over 2 million images served through Cloudinary, and a reported 100x improvement in image response times for their customers.
