Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg tackles growing complexity with new data management platform

Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg, a non-university hospital with 811 beds across multiple campuses, was struggling with rapidly growing data volumes and a complex, tape- and disk-based backup environment after adopting a new Electronic Patient File. To simplify daily management and achieve scalable, high-performance backup, the hospital engaged Orange Cyberdefense to redesign its data protection approach.

Orange Cyberdefense deployed a Rubrik SLA-driven backup platform integrated with Cloudian 100% S3 object storage (including Rubrik Live Mount for fast database availability), delivering essentially unlimited scalability. The new solution automated backups, freed engineers from daily tape tasks so they could work on higher-value projects, archived more than a petabyte of data, and reduced test-environment provisioning from 12–14 hours to minutes—significantly improving operational resilience and future-proofing the hospital’s data management.
