IONOS, a leading German cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service specialist, faced a growing customer demand for a low-cost storage tier for backup, archive, and file data. Their existing high-performance block storage did not address this need. They required a new solution that was fully S3-compatible for interoperability, GDPR compliant for data privacy, and exceptionally simple to manage. This led them to evaluate several vendors, ultimately selecting Cloudian and its HyperStore object storage platform.

Cloudian implemented its HyperStore solution, which provided proven S3 compatibility, modular scalability, and features for GDPR compliance like data locality and encryption. The deployment of 4PB across eight nodes was straightforward and has run smoothly.
