2M-IT, Finland’s largest publicly owned IT services provider for the social and healthcare sectors, faced scalability, management and cost challenges with its legacy NAS-based archive that supported roughly 1 PB of Rubrik backups across three data centres. Seeking a more cost‑effective, geo-distributed solution, 2M-IT worked with Arrow and ultimately selected Cloudian’s HyperStore object storage platform.

Cloudian deployed HyperStore as nine 1U nodes across three data centres (1.5 PB total), delivering native S3 support, unified management, erasure‑coding geo-distribution and seamless Rubrik integration. The Cloudian solution simplified administration, enabled non-disruptive scale‑out, doubled storage efficiency versus three‑way replication and reduced TCO by about 50%.
