PostFinance, a leading Swiss financial institution serving three million customers, needed highly scalable, cost‑effective storage after its Hadoop-based big data platform outgrew traditional block and file systems. The company selected Cloudian’s HyperStore object storage (with Cloudian HyperFile for file services) for its S3 compatibility, limitless scalability and compelling TCO advantages.

Cloudian deployed 36 HyperStore appliances across two data centers with policy‑based replication, migrated HDFS to object storage, and integrated HyperStore with Splunk SmartStore to decouple compute and storage. The solution now manages over 2 PB, supports a 100 million‑file repository, regulatory archiving and a Spark data lake, and delivered measured savings (up to ~70% vs. traditional block/file storage and up to ~60% TCO reduction in classic Splunk environments), enabling PostFinance to retain and analyze far more data for deeper insights.
