FileCatalyst needed to speed up file transfers to and from Cloudian object storage, since traditional S3 and HTTP-based tools were slowed by latency, packet loss, and local caching delays. Using FileCatalyst Direct with Cloudian S3 storage, the company aimed to improve media workflow performance and make files available immediately in cloud storage.

Cloudian’s solution used FileCatalyst’s patented UDP-based transfer technology to stream data directly to Cloudian object storage, with built-in encryption, retry, checkpoint restart, and integrity checks. The result was dramatically faster transfers—up to 10Gbps and, in the examples provided, reduced transfer times from hours with FTP to just 8.4 seconds—while improving collaboration and enabling one-to-many distribution across global locations.
