Vivint Standardizes on a Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub for Securing Automation of the Internet of Things

Vivint, North America’s largest home automation services provider with more than 800,000 customers and roughly 20–30 sensors per home, faced a major data challenge: sensor streams from thermostats, cameras, door/window and environmental detectors were siloed, preventing centralized analysis and limiting its ability to add intelligence to security and energy services (for example, occupancy-aware HVAC control and geo‑based automation).

Vivint standardized on the Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub to create a secure, governed, open central repository that makes 100,000+ sensor data points visible and analyzable. The platform lets Vivint correlate multiple data streams in real time to deliver actionable insights—driving competitive differentiation, enabling potential HVAC energy savings, improving security, and opening the door to new services such as home life‑saving programs.
