Telkomsel Selects Cloudera to Speed Customer Adoption of Broadband Services

Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest mobile operator with over 140 million subscribers, faced rapidly growing data volumes in its legacy enterprise data warehouse as customers moved from voice and SMS to smartphone and broadband usage. The company needed a way to capture, store and analyze this deluge of data to gain customer and network insights that would support broader adoption of higher-value broadband services.

Telkomsel implemented Cloudera Enterprise on-premises to offload ETL from the EDW and enable data discovery and analytics, using Hive, Spark and Impala with ingestion via Sqoop, Flume and Kafka. The new platform reduced processing costs, enabled longer retention of xDR data, sped time-to-insight, and provided the analytics foundation to drive customer broadband adoption and better business decisions, supported by ongoing Cloudera services.
