Symcor, a leading Canadian provider of business processing services, needed to protect its financial clients' data while offering them new digital services for fraud detection and prevention. Cloudera provided the solution through its Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), which enabled comprehensive data governance using Apache Ranger and Active Directory integration. This allowed Symcor to grant developers secure, on-demand access to the Hadoop stack only for specific periods of time. As a result, Symcor significantly increased security by ensuring no one has permanent access to its clusters and established a foundation for a new data fraud prediction service for its clients.
