SFR Implements an Enterprise Data Hub to Improve the Customer Journey

SFR, France’s second-largest telecommunications operator serving over 21 million mobile customers and 5.2 million broadband households, faced a surge of multi-structured data—often exceeding a billion events per day—and needed a shared, real-time 360-degree view of the customer journey that its decade-old data warehouse couldn’t fully support.

SFR deployed a Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub alongside its existing EDW, ingesting data with Apache Flume, storing and querying with HDFS and Impala, and integrating tools like Cloudera Search, Sentry, MongoDB and Syncsort DMXh to provide self-service analytics for employees and BI tools (IBM SPSS, Qlik, Microsoft BI). The EDH enabled centralized, real-time customer insights from log and channel data, improved customer experience and operational efficiency, and freed the EDW to focus on high-performance analytics—extending its effective lifespan from roughly three years to eight or nine.
