Seven West Media selects Cloudera, Contexti and Amazon Web Services to deliver innovation in audience engagement

Seven West Media partnered with Cloudera and Australian analytics firm Contexti to modernize its data capabilities and better understand viewer behavior. The challenge was to ingest and reconcile a wide variety of complex data sources and to support highly variable, event-driven demand (such as the Rio Olympics) while delivering deeper audience insights and higher advertising ROI.

The team built a cloud-first platform on AWS with a Cloudera enterprise data hub and Contexti-managed engineering, using elastic scaling and extensive performance testing. The solution powered daily executive dashboards and a behavior-driven engagement program for the 7Olympics app and site—more than 1 million registrations, 2.7 million emails across 108 campaigns—and drove a 29% increase in average minutes streamed among engaged users; the platform now forms the core of SWM’s data strategy.
