A Cloudera Case Study
Servicio Murciano de Salud, the public healthcare entity for Spain’s Murcia region, needed a way to unify data access and support growing demand from researchers, clinicians, and regulators. Manual, case-by-case handling of anonymized data had become unsustainable, while the organization also needed a centralized platform to power analytics, machine learning, and future AI initiatives. Cloudera helped Servicio Murciano de Salud build its unified “Azud” data lakehouse on-premises, using Cloudera’s open data lakehouse architecture and data-in-motion tools.
With Cloudera, Servicio Murciano de Salud integrated data from hospitals and primary care, automated complex processing, and strengthened governance for secure, compliant sharing across health data spaces. The platform also enabled real-time analytics and AI use cases through Cloudera AI, including models for diabetic patients and antibiotic use, delivering measurable time and cost savings and improving decision-making for more than 1.5 million citizens.
