Scania, a global leader in transport solutions with a 300,000‑vehicle connected fleet, needed to turn terabytes of position data into reproducible, scalable business insights. Although data was being collected, the company lacked a reliable data product and processing approach to pinpoint operational inefficiencies and support its sustainability goals.

Partnering with Cloudera, Scania implemented a streaming, data-lake architecture using Apache Kafka and Apache Spark plus DevOps/CI tooling (Ansible, Jenkins) to build an end‑to‑end, repeatable pipeline. The solution enabled continuous analysis and cross‑functional collaboration, converting fleet telemetry into actionable insights—identifying bottlenecks, reducing emissions and improving logistics—delivering a scalable model for ongoing optimization.
