Santander UK, a major retail and commercial bank and subsidiary of Banco Santander, faced fragmented legacy data warehouses across business units that produced inconsistent metrics and “multiple versions of the truth.” The bank needed to modernize its data platform to gain comprehensive, real-time customer insights and create a single operating model for data-driven decision making.

Working with Cloudera, Santander built a single modern data platform handling about 10 million transactions daily and nearly 2 PB of data to support analytics, streaming and machine learning. The platform enabled real-time personalization and fraud detection, doubled daily self-service queries, and delivered measurable impact: 7,000 new corporate prospects identified, $3.2M in reduced capital expenditures, $650K lower operating expenses, $2.4M marketing savings, protection for 3.7M customers via 95 proactive alerts, and overall multi‑million dollar value creation.
