Safeguarding Compliance and Ensuring Responsible Banking with Data

ANZ Bank, a major Australian banking and financial services provider, faced tighter regulations following the Banking Royal Commission and needed to identify historical compliance gaps across roughly 20 years of transactions and balances. To do this at scale, ANZ Bank turned to Cloudera and its Private Cloud platform to help remediate issues such as incorrect fees and interest charges while protecting customer trust.

Cloudera’s data platform enabled ANZ Bank to ingest, segment, and analyze vast amounts of data for compliance and forensic review across retail and business lending. The result was AUD 500 million refunded to customers and more than 3.5 million customer accounts corrected, with Cloudera helping ANZ Bank build a richer data foundation for future compliance monitoring and machine learning-based risk screening.
