A Cloudera Case Study
Salud Madrid, the public healthcare entity serving more than six million people in the Madrid Metropolitan Area, faced a highly fragmented legacy data environment that made it difficult to improve patient experience, support healthcare professionals, and enable research. In 2019, it began working with Cloudera to build a unified, governed data space and modernize its healthcare data management through Cloudera Data Warehouse and a data lakehouse approach.
Cloudera helped Salud Madrid consolidate data from more than 400 applications into a single repository, creating the largest healthcare data repository in Spain with over 1.6 billion objects. The new platform improved data accessibility, self-service analytics, governance, and support for telemedicine and research, while laying the groundwork for advanced analytics and AI across Madrid’s healthcare system.
