Preview of the Global Information Technology Company Case Study

Powering search with a modern data platform

This global IT services company that runs a major e-commerce platform faced exponential growth in transactional data and needed to improve search relevance. It required a modern, on‑premises architecture to power a semantic search engine, replicate and move data across global data centers, support analytics experiments, meet strict security and compliance needs, and scale for rising search traffic without excessive cost.

To address this, the company migrated 900+ nodes from CDH to Cloudera Data Platform Private Cloud Base and adopted Cloudera Data Flow Streams Messaging (Kafka, SRM, SMM) in place of Confluent. The new platform provides global cross‑data‑center replication, stronger security and availability, end‑to‑end observability and monitoring, and better data categorization for more relevant searches—while enabling DevOps experimentation and delivering over $650K in annual licensing savings.
