Persol Career, a major Japanese human-resources services provider (brands include “an” and “doda”), faced rising demand to improve candidate-job recommendations but was limited by mostly text-based resume/CV data, cumbersome pre-processing, and few HR-specific AI use cases. The company needed an AI-ready platform to enable machine learning and natural-language processing and to explore unstructured data for new service models.
Persol Career implemented an AI infrastructure based on Hortonworks HDP with Spark and Hive to handle large-scale processing and machine learning. Batch jobs that once took nearly half a day now complete in a fraction of that time, freeing staff to focus on analytics; recommendation quality has improved, employee engagement with data has increased, and the firm is expanding toward video/audio and combined structured–unstructured scoring to create new, value-added business models.
