Orwell Group is a regulated payments provider that delivers white‑label cash management services—current accounts, liquidity management and payment services—to banks and enterprises. Facing the need to scale a next‑generation, cross‑border banking platform to millions of customers while ensuring regulatory compliance, real‑time control and seamless integration with each client’s infrastructure, Orwell needed a data architecture built around streaming analytics rather than traditional batch systems.

Partnering with Hortonworks, Orwell implemented a streaming analytics platform based on Hortonworks Data Flow and Hortonworks Data Platform to monitor and analyze all operations in real time. The solution enabled rapid development of a full banking system in under nine months, roughly a tenfold cost reduction from the streaming approach, stronger fraud, risk and compliance capabilities (including GDPR and PSD2 support), real‑time troubleshooting of development pipelines, and new customer insights and services delivered as “compliance as a service.”
