A Cloudera Case Study
Nissan Motor Company needed to unlock value from growing volumes of vehicle driving and product quality data but lacked infrastructure to store and analyze it long-term or to break down entrenched data silos for cross‑functional insights. With connected‑car services and telemetry generating large datasets, the company sought a platform that could support long‑term storage and broad internal use.
Nissan implemented a Hadoop-based data lake using Hortonworks Data Platform (chosen for its open‑source compliance) and deployed modules like Hive, HBase and Oozie to create an HDP-ready platform for driving, quality and other company data. The new data lake (planned to host up to 500TB) has driven much higher internal data usage and cross‑functional analytics, and Nissan is expanding capabilities—planning Spark for IoT analytics and federating data across global locations.
