A Cloudera Case Study
LG Uplus, the LG Group telecom that launched the world’s first 5G service, needed a new big-data foundation to support real-time monitoring and fixed-mobile convergence for its millions of customers (about 15 million wireless subscribers, including 3.5 million 5G users). Its legacy, batch-oriented platform couldn’t ingest or analyze the volume and variety of 5G, wired and location data required to maintain its innovation edge, ensure service quality during commercialization, and avoid reputational risk.
Using Cloudera, LG Uplus built NRAP, a purpose-built real-time analytics platform that runs across 300 nodes and processes data in under a minute. The platform boosted daily log throughput to ~300TB, expanded monitoring indicators from ~300 to over 1,000, cut network response and monitoring times from hours or a day to about one minute, raised NPS by 10%, and enabled AI/AIOps for root-cause detection and predictive quality management — with plans to migrate to Cloudera Data Platform for cloud governance and further scale.
