Treato, a healthcare analytics company, needed to scale its platform to process billions of user-generated health posts from the web. Their initial Microsoft-based system was expensive and cumbersome to administer, preventing them from adding thousands of data sources. They turned to Cloudera to implement a more efficient and scalable big data solution built on Apache Hadoop.

Cloudera implemented its CDH platform, which provided the reliable storage and scalable processing infrastructure Treato required. The solution, which uses HBase, HDFS, and Solr, allows Treato to process 150-200 million posts per day and generate new health insights within 24 hours. The Cloudera platform runs at least six times faster than the previous system, solved scalability challenges, and reduced costs, allowing Treato to redeploy 1-2 full-time employees.
