INAIL, Italy’s National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work, protects workers and promotes prevention across a portfolio of about 3.2 million companies with roughly 10,000 employees. Facing exponential data growth and rising demand for predictive analytics, its legacy data-warehouse and dozens of bespoke dashboards had become inflexible, costly to maintain, duplicated data across silos, and produced long processing times that slowed decision-making.

INAIL partnered with Cloudera to build "Ianua," an enterprise data platform comprising a data lake, data hub, data lab and a unified data portal. The single-repository architecture simplified operations and cut transformation jobs from 2,000 to 800, while monthly data-mart loads dropped from six days to 1.5 (a 400% improvement). The result: faster data preparation, reduced storage and maintenance, higher-quality consistent data, and new capabilities for ML, NLP and data-driven business decisions.
