Harnessing the Power of Centralized Data Analytics in the Cloud

NORD/LB, one of Germany’s leading commercial banks, needed to unlock value from massive volumes of banking, operational, customer, and external market data while meeting strict regulatory and data governance requirements. To modernize its analytics approach, NORD/LB chose Cloudera on Azure to replace a legacy environment and create a single cloud-based platform for advanced analytics, machine learning, and data product development.

With Cloudera’s Professional Services support, NORD/LB migrated to a centralized data lakehouse on the Cloudera platform, using tools like Cloudera SDX and Cloudera Data Engineering to improve governance, automate pipelines, and query diverse data with Apache Iceberg. The results included faster innovation, new user onboarding in hours instead of weeks or months, and the rapid delivery of new data products such as a CO2 accounting tool and stress test system; Cloudera also helped NORD/LB automate analysis of around 7,000 contracts with NLP and build an AI-based trading bot.
