Equifax, a global consumer and business credit data company, needed to accelerate the time it takes to build statistically accurate risk models as data volumes grew (serving more than 600 million consumers and 80 million businesses). Their legacy proprietary tooling required moving and sampling data across niche environments, making model development slow and onerous—often taking weeks—and limiting the ability to run deeper analytics on large datasets.

Equifax deployed a Cloudera-based analytics sandbox on Intel® Xeon®–powered infrastructure, enabling real-time queries with Impala and flexible model development using tools like Spark, Mahout, R, and SAS, with unified security via Apache Sentry. The new platform pre-assembles and secures large datasets so data scientists can iterate faster, deliver new models in significantly less time, gain deeper insights from bigger data, and reduce management complexity and costs as they move toward an enterprise data hub.
