Case Study: Deutsche Telekom achieves up to 20% reduction in revenue loss from fraud with Cloudera

A Cloudera Case Study

Preview of the Deutsche Telekom Case Study

Deutsche Telekom Reducing Revenue Loss from Fraud by up to 20 Percent

Deutsche Telekom, a leading European telecommunications provider headquartered in Bonn serving more than 150 million customers, faced growing network fraud and massive volumes of streaming data captured in silos. The company needed near-real-time detection and a unified view of network, CRM, and campaign data to prevent large fraud spikes and improve customer insight.

To solve this, Deutsche Telekom deployed a Cloudera-based modern data platform using Apache Impala and Spark plus BI and data-science tools to apply ML/AI and interactive querying across unified data sources. The platform enabled real-time fraud detection and Customer 360 analytics, reducing revenue loss from fraud by an estimated 10–20%, cutting churn by 5–10%, generating tens of millions of euros in campaign revenue, and improving operational efficiency by about 50%.
