Data hub helps doctors monitor patient meds remotely

Merck KGaA’s Ares Trading SA, which manages connected medical devices for remote patient monitoring, needed a more flexible way to collect and share data from electronic autoinjectors. Its legacy web application was costly to maintain, hard to extend for new device types, and limited doctors’ access to timely treatment information.

Working with Cloudera Professional Services and Cloudera Data Hub, Merck KGaA replaced the old system with a cloud-based, automated data pipeline that securely processes device data and sends it to authorized healthcare platforms. The new solution supports up to 50,000 authenticated devices, processes data at up to 100MB per second for new devices, handles 20 gigabits of third-party data in under a minute, and achieved GxP (CFR 21 Part 11) compliance.
