A Cloudera Case Study
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a Fortune 500 and India’s largest private-sector conglomerate spanning energy, petrochemicals, retail and telecom, faced fragmented, siloed data and no enterprise-wide data model. Business units relied on monolithic RDBMS and Excel exports, producing inconsistent, out-of-date views with long cycle times and limited traceability, hindering analytics, ML and timely decision making.
RIL implemented a centralized Hydrocarbons data lake built on Cloudera HDP with an open-source, cloud-native, microservices and Kubernetes architecture, adding automation, cataloguing, governance and real-time data provisioning. The platform supports petabyte-scale storage and self-service analytics, speeds ML model runs from days to minutes/seconds, enables predictive maintenance and supply‑chain optimization, powers hundreds of use cases, and reduced storage costs by roughly 30% while ensuring compliance and enterprise-wide data governance.
