Continental’s data-driven transformation from manufacturer to tire solution provider

Continental, a global tire manufacturer and mobility technology company, wanted to give fleet customers continuous visibility into tire condition to improve safety, uptime, and efficiency. To support its ContiConnect digital tire monitoring and management platform, Continental needed a more future-ready, scalable, and secure data environment than its legacy on-premises setup, and chose Cloudera on Microsoft Azure.

Cloudera implemented a cloud-based hybrid data platform and helped Continental move to a streaming-first architecture using Kafka and Spark Streaming, with support from Cloudera Professional Services. The result was easier data management, better real-time analytics, and stronger security and scalability; Continental’s customers also saw measurable gains, including 83% fewer breakdowns, 95% fewer out-of-hours calls, and average monthly fuel savings of £1.646.
