Cloudera partnered with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), one of Indonesia’s largest state‑owned banks serving ~30 million retail clients, to help the bank modernize its legacy data platform. BRI needed to harness massive historical customer data to grow its customer base, accelerate financial inclusion, speed up loan processing, and strengthen fraud detection while meeting security and compliance requirements.

By deploying Cloudera Enterprise and using Cloudera Data Science Workbench with HBase, BRI analyzed five years of data to improve credit scoring, personalize cross‑sell/upsell offers and increase digital loan uptake. The initiative cut loan processing time from two weeks to two days (productivity gains up to 50%), expanded customers and revenue, and enabled real‑time, ML‑driven fraud detection across multiple customer touch points.
