Case Study: CIASC achieves faster, shared government data access with Cloudera

CIASC, the state-owned IT company supporting the government of Santa Catarina, Brazil, needed a way to break down silos and make data sharing easier across dozens of public agencies. Working with Cloudera, it set out to build a common data infrastructure using Cloudera’s platform to improve access to information, standardize data, and support better policy decisions.

Cloudera helped CIASC implement the BoaVista data-sharing platform, which centralized access for multiple departments and enabled faster processing of large datasets. The initial system was deployed in just four weeks and in some cases gave data managers access to information 14 times faster than before. Today, the platform supports about 140 datasets, more than 4,000 tables, and over 1,500 users across 35 public entities, improving services such as finance, health, agriculture, and education.
