CBA Enhances Data Lake with Cloudera Upgrade

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), Australia’s largest bank, needed to modernize its massive Omnia data lake and support a broader cloud and AI strategy. To do this, CBA worked with Cloudera on a complex, in-place upgrade of its platform, which powers 24,000 pipelines and critical retail and business banking functions.

Cloudera helped CBA complete the upgrade over a weekend with full rollback capability, avoiding the need for duplicate environments, data, or metadata. The project was successfully delivered, strengthening operational stability and cyber security while improving cost management and security features, and helping CBA future-proof its data assets and maintain its data and AI leadership.
