Building a robust data foundation for AI exploration in banking

OTP Bank Group, Hungary’s largest commercial bank, wanted to build a strong data foundation to support AI and analytics across its business. As its data volumes grew across 11 countries and highly regulated banking operations, the bank needed a secure, governed way to manage large-scale customer, operational, and financial data. Cloudera and its data lakehouse and machine learning capabilities were used to help address this challenge.

With Cloudera, OTP Bank Group built an open data lakehouse that centralizes up to 5 billion records per day, or 3 petabytes of data, and lets teams use different analytics tools on structured and unstructured data. Cloudera’s security and governance features supported compliance, while Cloudera Machine Learning helped teams experiment and operationalize AI. The impact has been broad adoption across business teams, improved decision-making, stronger risk analysis, and recognition of OTP Bank as an AI leader in the region.
