Case Study: ADP (Automatic Data Processing) reduces employee turnover and monetizes HR data with Cloudera

A Cloudera Case Study

Preview of the ADP Case Study

ADP applying predictive analytics to retain human capital and monetize data

Automatic Data Processing (ADP), a Fortune 500 HCM provider that processes payroll for one in six Americans, faced the challenge of turning massive, dispersed customer data into actionable insights to help clients retain talent, ensure pay equity, and create new revenue streams—while meeting strict security and scalability requirements that traditional databases couldn’t handle.

ADP built DataCloud on Cloudera’s modern data platform (Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Tableau) to aggregate anonymized data from 600,000+ clients and generate benchmarks and predictive models. DataCloud identifies employees at high risk of leaving and surfaces actionable details for managers; in a pilot it singled out the top 1% of at‑risk workers (50% turnover) and helped lower overall turnover from 17% to 9%. The service also lets clients compare pay and benefits to peers and has driven significant adoption and new revenue for ADP.
