A Modernized Data Architecture Drives Business Value in Banking

mBank is one of Poland’s largest and most innovative banks—serving millions of retail and corporate clients across Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia—but its legacy data warehouse and IT systems were struggling with rapidly growing data volumes and the demands of data science. Daily integration and processing were slow (taking about 24 hours), limiting access to current data and preventing deployment of new analytics-driven applications.

mBank modernized its architecture with Cloudera Enterprise (Hadoop, Impala, Spark), migrating data, updating ETL flows, and creating a centralized Enterprise Data Hub. The change cut daily data integration time by two-thirds (from 24 to 8 hours, with further reductions planned), sped certain queries fourfold, enabled integration of previously inaccessible data, lowered costs by shifting data off the legacy warehouse, and unlocked new analytics and application opportunities.
