SmileShark accelerates growth and optimizes customer costs with CloudCheckr

SmileShark, a Seoul-based managed service provider founded in 2019, supports gaming companies, startups, SMBs and public sector clients and faced challenges optimizing AWS costs, managing multiple customer accounts, and expanding globally. To address this, SmileShark adopted CloudCheckr (CloudCheckr CMx) to gain deeper visibility into AWS environments, improve billing accuracy, and take advantage of Savings Plans and Reserved Instance recommendations.

Using CloudCheckr, SmileShark implemented cost-allocation, advanced grouping, and Cost Savings reporting to quickly identify idle or overprovisioned resources and apply discounts. CloudCheckr enabled month-over-month savings as high as 80%, reduced one gaming customer’s bill from $300,000 to $100,000 and another from $100,000 to $20,000, and helped SmileShark scale support for 150+ AWS customers.
