Leaf Group, a portfolio of online brands including Society6, Well+Good and Livestrong.com, faced rising AWS costs and the need for improved security and compliance visibility across many accounts. To solve this, their Information Security team adopted CloudCheckr (now part of Spot by NetApp), using the CloudCheckr CMx cloud management platform to get a single-pane view of AWS usage, costs, certificates and controls.

CloudCheckr aggregated data across accounts, revealed an S3 lifecycle/storage-class issue for Society6 and enabled a fix that cut S3 costs by about 25% year over year while traffic increased. The platform also improved IAM monitoring, surfaced legacy privileged keys for remediation, simplified SSL certificate management, and helped enforce stricter access policies and MFA, delivering measurable cost savings and stronger security posture.
